The 72 pound black and tan Labrador Retriever
named Peyton has been retired from service and now lives in Virginia with a loving family.

His name is of Scottish origin and it means village warrior, pastor and guardian. He lived up to his name in many ways  and is now free to romp and play on the beaches of Virginia. He will always be missed.

A ray of light in furry form

Bids me to take the chance,

To hear again the tune of trust

And enter freedom’s dance.

This ray of light in furry form

With me has come to stay;

And though he doesn’t know me well,

He’s pleased to guide my way.

As we prepare to join the dance

Of love and loss and life,

My thanks go out to those who gave

To me this ray of light.
